3/34/10 National Sports Producer to Conduct Visits with FTDM Students

Students can sign up for a one-on-one meeting with a Sports Broadcasting expert. Missy Moore has worked at KTVT 11 Ft Worth, CNN/Sports Illustrated, and Fox Sports South. Moore is now working at Channel 4 San Diego. She currently produces the San Diego Padres Pregame and Postgame shows, as well as the 30-minute Postgame show that airs nightly during the baseball offseason. Reserve a 15 minute time slot from 10:30AM-12:30PM by contacting Julie Harrison at j.harrison@tcu.edu.

 

2/24/10 Director Tom Huckabee to Visit FTDM Students

Wed. February 24, 1 p.m, Rm 156S. Meet director, Tom Huckabee, as well as Gabriel Horn, one of the principle actors of Carried Away. The film will screen at 1 p.m. and a Q&A will follow.

 

12/6/09 Vampires Class Draws National and International Attention

Dr. Tricia Jenkins' class, Bloodsuckers: Vampries in Film and TV, has gained signifcant media attention this month. After the TCU Daily Skiff featured the class in an article, Dallas/Ft. Worth's news station, Fox 4, ran a story on the class. The national Fox morning show, Fox & Friends, then invited Dr. Jenkins and her student, Sydney Ackerley, to do a live segment on December 15th. Dr. Jenkins was also interviewed on the radio by 4FM in Dublin, Ireland and Texas' own KRLD 1080 about the class. 11/17/09 Reality TV Producer to Speak to FTDM Students

The FTDM Department welcomes guest speaker and 2001 FTDM Alum, Allan Schwegmann, Tuesday November 17th. Schwegmann is currently a Producer of The Bachelor on ABC, with other credits including The Great American Dream Vote (ABC), Reese Witherspoon- All American Girl (E!), and Wanda Does It (Comedy Central). Schwegmann will be talking to the History of Broadcasting class (Moudy S 164) from 12:30-1:50 pm and the Reality TV class (Moudy S 164) from 2:30-4:50pm. Joining him for History of Broadcasting is fellow TCU Alum Brooke Ward, Winner of the CW series Farmer Wants a Wife. Each lecture is open to all FTDM majors and minors.

 

10/30-11/2 FTDM Welcomes Film/TV Writer and Director


TCU’s Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media (FTDM) welcomes guest speakers Rusty Mahmood, first assistant director of the hit NBC TV show The Office and writer-director Kara Harshbarger (TCU FTDM 1996), to campus Oct. 30 – Nov. 2. Mahmood and Harshbarger will hold a public lecture on Monday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. in Moudy South, room 164. The event is free and open to the public.

Recently, Mahmood has been working as the first assistant director for the NBC TV show The Office as well as working on production crews for films such as The 40 Year Old Virgin and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Harshbarger is best known for writing and directing the feature film, A Little Inside.

10/8/09 Academics, Athletics Combine To Put TCU Programming on The Mtn.

TCU’s sports-broadcasting curriculum will not be acknowledged as a full-fledged major until 2010, but students in the university’s sports-broadcasting courses are already getting plenty of real-world experience. The 20 students in the program will fulfill all of the production roles for three volleyball telecasts that will air this fall on The Mtn.–Mountain West Sports Network. Through this new partnership, TCU students will produce up to 18 live broadcasts for the network this spring, including women’s basketball, baseball, and soccer games, and the network hopes to get more schools’ broadcasting departments into the game as well. 10/09/09 National Recording Artist to appear at KTCU

National Recording Artist, Liam Finn, (YEPROC Records), recently on David Letterman and currently touring the U.S. with Wilco, is playing in Dallas on the ninth. First, however, Finn will be at KTCU for a special live appearance at 11 a.m. in the studio. Everyone is invited to stop by. (Liam's father, Neil Finn, is lead singer of Crowded House).
 
 

10/6-10/9/09 Hollywood Director to Visit as Green Chair Lecturer

FTDM is pleased to announce Ron Hardy as its Green Chair Lecturer for the 2009-2010 academic year. Mr. Hardy is a television director who has worked on The X-Files, BattleStar Galatica, Burn Notice, Dollhouse, In Plain Sight, and many other programs. He will be on campus for four days in October to give a public lecture, direct workshops, and talk with both faculty and students.

9/22/09 Reality TV Star Visits FTDM Students

Brooke Ward, winner of the CW series' Farmer Wants a Wife, spoke to students on Tuesday, Sept. 24th in the conference room. Ms. Ward was on hand to discuss her experiences with reality TV and answer student questions about the casting and production process.

 

10/3/09 College of Communication Family Weekend/Open House

Everyone is welcome to come by Moudy South from 1-3 p.m. in order to see the latest building renovations and hear about future plans for expansion. Dean David Whillock, faculty and staff will also be on-hand to answer questions family might have.
